Da Nang to Hoi An in short
Most visitors fly into Da Nang International Airport and cover the rest by road. The straightforward choices are Grab, a taxi or a transfer arranged by your hotel. The city bus is cheaper but is not an airport line.
Two Hoi An hotels quote their own ride times from the airport: about 35 minutes and about 50 minutes. They are different destinations and operator estimates, so there is no single door-to-door time. Allow 35โ60 minutes and add more for rain or heavy traffic.

Grab, taxi and hotel transfer
Grab publishes a dedicated route between Da Nang and Hoi An, one way. The 4-seater starts at VND 279,818 for the first 15.5 miles (25 km), then adds VND 10,309 per km. The 6-seater starts at VND 329,891 for the same distance and adds VND 14,335 per km. These are the rates listed in July 2026. They are not a fixed airport fare.
Grab includes VAT and adjusts prices to supply and demand. Night, waiting, weather and advance-booking surcharges may apply. The price on your screen at booking is the price for your day, so do not budget from the base rate alone. Whether a given car type or payment method is available on the spot is not guaranteed.
A hotel transfer is the least effort after a long flight, because the driver knows where your hotel is. Prices are set by the hotel. One resort on the Thu Bon River asks for its chauffeur service to be booked at least 24 hours ahead. That rule is that hotel's, and it does not apply to taxis or Grab.
The city bus 02
Line 02 has run electric buses since 28 August 2026. The route runs from the Da Nang central bus station via the city administrative center to the Hai Ba Trung car park in Hoi An, with a bus every 15โ30 minutes. It is not a direct airport bus, so you need to get to the central station first.
In December 2025 the operator listed hours of 05:30โ18:00, fares of VND 8,000โ30,000 per trip and VND 8,000 for students, and a route that ran on to the Cua Dai car park. The route and fares may have changed with the August switch, so check the current times and the fare before you rely on the last bus.
Separately, the tourist bus 01DL between Hoi An, My Son and Dong Giang has been suspended since 15 September 2026 for six months. See the My Son page for other ways to get there.

Planning the ride
What to settle before you leave the airport.
Know where you are going
Motor traffic is restricted in the old town core, so give the driver your hotel's exact name and address, and see where to stay for the areas.
Add a side trip
The Marble Mountains are about 12 miles (20 km) from Hoi An, a ride of 30โ35 minutes by scooter on the coastal road. Our Marble Mountains guide has tickets and hours.
Allow for rain
Heavy rain brought flooding and landslides to Da Nang on 8 October 2026, with more warnings the next day. That does not tell you what the road is like on your day, but October and November are the wettest months. See the weather page.
Heading to the beach first
An Bang is about 18.5 miles (30 km) from central Da Nang and 3 miles (5 km) from the old town. See the An Bang Beach guide for how the coast looks this year.
Going on to Hue
If your trip continues north, Hue lies beyond Da Nang. The Hai Van Pass is the mountain route between the two. For the evening in Hoi An, the night market is across the An Hoi bridge from the old town.
